Location
Lands Improvement, in Joint Venture with Gallagher Estates, own a 16.2 hectare former power station site in Poole, fronting onto Holes Bay and adjacent to Poole Harbour.
Development proposals
We are working in close co-operation with the Borough of Poole to bring forward a comprehensive mixed use regeneration package which will include the construction of a new lifting bridge for the town.
Project status
The Joint Venture was granted full planning permission for the link road that runs through the site in July 2006. The Department for Transport approved a Transport and Works Act Order for the construction of the new lifting bridge in August 2006.
A new funding package for the delivery of the bridge was agreed between the Borough of Poole, South West Regional Development Agency and the Joint Venture in 2008. The Borough of Poole has now let a contract for the new ‘Twin Sails’ lifting bridge and construction commenced in the summer of 2010. Lands Improvement and Gallaghers will be letting a contract for the new link road in December 2010 and Joint Venture are preparing a planning application for the site for submission summer 2011. |
