Peterborough is approximately 80 miles North of London and the site is located approximately a 10 minute walk from the rail station in an area which is in touching distance of the city centre.
The District Hospital site is a 23 acre brownfield site which includes in excess of 10 buildings, including the old Maternity Unit building and the St John’s buildings.
The site was vacated in December 2010, once the move to the City Hospital building at Bretton Gate was complete.
LIH plans to create 300-350 new homes on the site as well as space for a new primary school. Key historic buildings will be retained.
The scheme gained planning consent in 2014 for up to 350 new homes and a new primary school.
The primary school land has been prepared and handed over to the council. Demolition and remediation activities are over 50% complete across the site. Land parcels are now available to be acquired.
Residential land sold to Weston Homes and Kier Residential in 2016. Both parts are currently on site delivering new homes.
