On Friday, 20 and 27 September two teams from Lands Improvement spent a day each painting part of the Barnardo’s Centre in Houghton Regis, five minutes away from our large scale, mixed-used development Linmere.

In 2017-18 Barnardo’s reached, helped and transformed the lives of 301,100 children, young people, parents and carers, providing mental health support to children and young adults across the UK. Her Majesty The Queen was Barnardo’s Patron from 1983 to 2016, when she handed over the role of HRH to The Duchess of Cornwall.

Lands Improvement encourages staff to take part in volunteering projects and get involved in practical community tasks. The work at Barnardo’s involved painting and upgrading a meeting room, providing ‘hopscotch’ stencils in the play area, refurbishing and painting picnic tables and installing a basketball hoop.

Jeremy Dann, Local Volunteer Coordinator at Barnardo’s, said: “Barnardo’s is very grateful for the work done by the friendly team from Lands Improvement, who have spruced up a tired room and refreshed some designs on the playground, to make it a more inviting and welcoming facility for our service users. We always welcome involvement from local business and the team from Lands Improvement have done a great job.”

Lands Improvement hope to develop and maintain a long-term relationship with Barnardo’s over the development of the Linmere project.
